FAITH MORE PRECIOUS THAN GOLD PURIFIED IN THE FIRE:

As we look at credible sources on money and finances, the financial specialists are preicting that the value of gold is falling. Some are saying that silver will be a more sought our commodity than gold. How is this possible? All  our lives we were told to buy gold and store it up as a non-wasting asset. The word of God gives this analogy, that our faith is more precious than gold. This faith is a commodity that will never lose its value, but it must be purified with fire.

OUTLINE

"Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade-kept in heaven for you, who through faith are shielded by God's power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time.
In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials.
These have come so that your faith-of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire may be proved genuine and may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed"
Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy, for you are receiving the goal of your faith, the salvation of your souls." (1Peter 1:3-9).

OUTLINE:

A. FAITH (Vs. 3)

B. FIRE (Vs. 7)

C. FILLED (Vs. 8)

D. FULFILLED (Vs. 9)

A. FAITH.

What is faith?

It is believing in Jesus whom we have not seen, yet we love him.

It is the faith that produces the new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. Faith is present, but hope is future. Because He lives, we will live also.

B. Fire is for cleansing.

"Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of may kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance" (James 1:2).

Perseverance must finish  its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything."

Gold in its raw state is full of dirt and impurities. It must go through the fire to bring out its brilliance and beauty. In the same way your faith will be tested to bring out your brilliance and beauty.

C. Filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy.

When people look at you and wonder how you can laugh in the midst of your     storm, let them know that you are filled with inexpressible and glorious joy.

D. Fulfilled.

The goal of your faith is the salvation of your soul.

Why do I do what I do as a Christian?  It is because I do not live for this life on earth only, but because I am preparing for life in the hereafter. The ultimate goal of the Christian is to be with Jesus, to reign and rule forever with him.

Conclusion:

This salvation is promised to the born again believer. We have assurance that we will be with Jesus. This is an inheritance that can never fade, perish or spoil, as it is kept in heaven for us. We, Christians because of our faith are shielded by God's power unto the coming salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time. Our salvation is present, by faith and it is future to be realized when Jesus returns for his bride, the Church. We will be with him.
